Pisgah is the stronger first choice for roadside waterfalls, forest history, and a mixed group that wants several short stops. DuPont suits travelers ready for a longer waterfall walk or a bicycle loop on its multi-use trail network. Keep downtown and Brevard Music Center for a wet afternoon, a lower-effort day, or the evening after either forest.
Longer walking or riding
Use DuPont for Triple Falls and High Falls on foot, or trade the waterfall corridor for a skill-matched bicycle loop. Do not force both into a short day.
Rain or tired legs
Return to Main and Broad streets for galleries, shops, restaurants, and taprooms. Summer performances can make Brevard Music Center the day's main event.
Steeper waterfall hike
Reserve Rainbow Falls for travelers prepared for a separate, sustained climb from Gorges State Park. It is not a quick addition to the Pisgah or DuPont route.
